The towel, as they say, was not so much tossed in as it was hurled furiously out a nearby window.

Accordingly, I chose a different career path; one, I daresay, that allowed me access to a more forgiving bunch of non-existent archetypes to provide fuel for inspiration. I’d been fiddling with various aspects of design since my early teens – websites, flyers, small publications and the like, and then one day, it occurred to me that not only was I good at what I was doing, but I’d developed a true, blushing, bashful fondness for it. I realized that my creative impulses could be translated from word to image, or word to text, or text and image to form and composition – and there still would exist the notion of storytelling that I’d grown to love while writing. I followed up my studies in Liberal Arts with an AEC, a year and a half of intensive studying at Montreal’s International Academy of Design, and threw myself into three years worth of undergraduate studies at Concordia University. (I didn't quite stop there with academia, but that's another story altogether...)

The result of so much schooling is an amalgamation of different influences converging to form one holistic practice: I still write, and I apply the methodology of storytelling in my work, but on the fringes are several darker preoccupations born out of my few early defeats.

Shiny: January 2010

A new year brings in new work; I'm finally catching up with site-wide updates, and with a little luck (and possibly a few sleepless nights) a couple new things ought to be released in the next few months. Be sure to check back under the "Big Ideas" (to your right) to see what else I've got brewing in the idea cauldron.

For now, I'm happy to announce that Elixireleven got its .com back (after many years of having been squatted on) the portfolio is getting some fresh injections of new work, and I've finally, finally overhauled the homepage navigation (flying, flowery vital organs, and all). I'm also working on getting the Cabinet of Curiosities off the ground, though for the moment, WordPress is still being awfully buggy. For now, if you're looking for me, you can find me on Facebook, Livejournal or Twitter.

With the idea factory in full production, I think its safe to say that the up-and-coming work here at Elixireleven embraces a variety of different mediums and methods: Some things I'm working on include the release of an online store, a typography library, and a stable version of the blog. In other, non-design related endeavors, I'm attempting to catalogue the whole of my literary pursuits at IX Nocturne. I'm also brainstorming the first draft of an original novel: its a steampunk-inspired young adult horror-fantasy set in subterranean New York, featuring a smack of the supernatural, and dollop of good old anti-hero-inspired post-teen angst.

Also on the docket is a pet project of mine, Ci-Git. French for "Here Lies", Ci-Git is a photographic exploration of commemorative monuments.
